Idaho State Park Fees
Yikes! This is the part that isn't any fun. We try to keep the rules simple and the fees low.
The Campsite Basics
- Fireworks are prohibited
- Dogs must be confined or on a leash
- Dogs are not allowed in beach areas or at Eagle Island and Harriman State Parks
- Please camp only in designated areas
- Quiet time starts at 10 pm
- Sites cannot be "saved" for someone else
- All equipment and vehicles must be within the designated camp site
- Generally stays are limited to 15 days in a 30-day period
- Check-out is 1 pm
Fees:
The fees collected by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation go right back into the operation and maintenance of parks and recreation programs. The following fees are subject to change pending legislative action. Idaho's five percent sales tax applies to campsites.
Camping fees include the right to use designated campgrounds and facilities. Utilities and facilities may be restricted by weather or other factors. Camping fees include the Motorized Vehicle Entrance Fee.
Camping Fees
Primitive Campsite (may include a table, grill, camp-spur, vault toilet, no water) $7 per day
- Basic Campsite (may include a table, grill, camp-spur, vault toilet, central water) $9 per day
- Developed Campsite (may include a table, grill, camp-spur, flush toilets, central water) $12 per day
- Deluxe Campsite (designed to accommodate higher occupancy limits of up to 12 persons) $22 per day
- Electric hookups at site, where available Additional $4 per day
- Sewer hookups at site, where available Additional $2 per day
- Most parks charge a Motorized Vehicle Entrance Fee of $3 for day use. Camping fees include that fee.
Extra Vehicle
For a fee of $5, a second vehicle is allowed to park within the campspur, as long as it fits entirely within the spur. Or, the vehicle may be parked in an area designated for extra vehicles. The extra vehicle cannot be a camping unit.
Campsite Reservations
We do not currently have a central reservation system or Internet reservations. Many of our parks do take reservations by phone, in person, by mail, by fax, or by e-mail. You will be asked to follow up with a check or make your reservation with Visa or MasterCard. Reservations for campsites, cabins, yurts and group facilities can be made up to 11 months in advance, but can't be taken later than three days in advance of your arrival. The parks taking reservations are Priest Lake (208-443-6710), Farragut (208-683-2425), Hells Gate (208-799-5015), Ponderosa (208-634-2164), Three Island Crossing (208-366-2394), Bear Lake (209-945-2790), Bruneau Dunes (208-366-7919) and Henrys Lake (208-558-7532).
A $6, nonrefundable fee is charged for each campsite reservation, in addition to the first night's use fee. Reservations made less than 10 days prior to arrival must be confirmed by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) at the time the reservation is made.
A separate reservation request, in the occupant's name, must be received for each site requested. Multiple reservation requests may be submitted in one envelope, provided all required information is included for each request. Specific campsites cannot be reserved. Reservations are not transferable.
Length of Stay
Length of stay is limited to 15 days in any 30-day period.
Motorized Vehicle Entrance Fee
The Motorized Vehicle Entrance Fee (MVEF) is a daily charge for motorized vehicles. The $3 MVEF is charged when a vehicle enters a designated state park area for a non-camping visit. The fee is the same regardless of how many people are in the vehicle. Visitors entering an Idaho state park without a motorized vehicle do not pay. The MVEF does not permit use of campsites.
Annual State Park Passport
The $35 passport allows you to bring your vehicle into any of Idahos state parks as many times as you wish during the calendar year without paying the
MVEF. If purchased prior to February 1, the passport is $25. A passport for a second vehicle is $5 at any time. The second vehicle passport must be purchased at the same location as the first passport. A vehicle registration in the same owners name is required. The Annual Passport does not apply to camping.
Camping in Boats, Moorage
Overnight moorage for persons who have paid for a campsite is $5 for any length of vessel. The charge for overnight moorage while camping on a vessel is $8 per night for vessels under 26 feet and $11 per night for vessels 26 feet and over. The charge for any length of vessel moored at a buoy overnight is $5.
Please Remember:
When youre trying to get away from it all, youd rather not think about rules. Most people wont have to give our rules much thought, because they are based on common sense and courtesy. The following are answers to frequently asked questions about rules. Your park manager can provide you with details.
Camping
There is a charge for camping, with or without hookups. Camping is permitted only in designated sites.
Saving Sites
Saving campsites is prohibited. The party registering for a campsite must occupy it for the first night.
Quiet Hours
The hours between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. are quiet hours, unless otherwise posted. No generators or other motorized equipment emitting sound and exhaust may be operated during quiet hours.
Campsite Parking
All boats, trailers, rigs and motorized vehicles must fit entirely within the campsite parking spur. All equipment which does not fit entirely within the campsite parking spur must be parked outside the campground in an area designated by the park manager. If no outside parking is available, a second campsite must be purchased. All camping equipment and personal belongings must be maintained within the assigned campsite. One extra vehicle is allowed per camp site, if it fits. If it does not, a second site must be purchased.
Check Out
Check out time is 1 p.m.
Visitors
Visitors are welcome during day-use hours. They must park outside the campground, except with permission of the park manager. Visitors must pay the Motorized Vehicle Entrance Fee if they bring their vehicle into the park.
Prohibited Camping
No camping is permitted on beaches, parking lots or day-use facilities.
Campfires and Fireworks
Fires are allowed only in designated areas. Fireworks are not permitted.
Motorized Vehicle Use
Motor vehicles, including motorbikes and ATVs, must stay on established roadways and in parking lots.
Pets
Pets are welcome in most parks, but you must keep them on a leash no longer than six feet, or confined to your camper. Do not leave pets unattended in a closed vehicle during the heat of the day. At night, they must be kept inside a vehicle or tent. Pets are not allowed on beaches. They are not allowed at Eagle Island State Park or at the Sandy Point Unit of Lucky Peak State Park. Pets are allowed only in the parking lot at Harriman State Park.
Resource Protection
Wildlife and vegetation are protected in all Idaho state parks.
Swimming
Swimming is authorized only in plainly marked areas. There are no lifeguards on duty. Glass containers are not allowed on beaches or at swim areas.
