Snowmobile Tours

In an effort to ensure that the resources of Yellowstone National Park are protected, the park regulates the number and type of snowmobiles and snow coaches that can enter the park each winter. Each winter only those snowmobiles which are commercially guided are allowed in the Park. Therefore, it is necessary to check the listings here to find the right company that can assist you with seeing all the winter wonderland of Yellowstone astride a snowmobile. A number of guide services offer trail and backcountry tours outside of the park boundaries as well.

In the heart of winter, typically between December 15th and March 15th, Yellowstone plows a number of roads for winter recreation use. Snowmobiles, snowcoaches and individuals on cross-country skis or snowshoes have access to these groomed roads and trails to be able to experience Yellowstone in the winter. Snowmobile tours can access the park from the West, North, East, and South entrances.

Only snowmobiles that are commercial guided are allowed into Yellowstone National Park. And those snowmobiles are restricted to traveling only on roads and in parking lots that have been groomed specifically for their use. However, there is much to see in the Park from these roads. Wildlife in Yellowstone remains abundant in the winter and the serenity and peace of the area blanketed in white is breathtaking when seen from a snowmobile.

Snowmobiling in Yellowstone is a winter activity that should not be missed.
