At the top of every sledder's list of places to snowmobile is West Yellowstone, Montana.
It is one of the few cities where the trail system begins right in town. The snowmobiles share the streets with regular vehicles. Within Yellowstone Park, there are over 180 miles of groomed trails. Outside Yellowstone Park in the state of Montana, you will find an additional 400 plus miles of trails.
Yellowstone Park is governed by specific snowmobiling rules and regulations. It is best to check those rules and regulations before planning any snowmobile trip into the area.
Although, all the roads in Yellowstone National Park are open to snowmobiles, the number and kind of sled that can be ridden is regulated. In the surrounding area, you will also find hundreds of miles of trails in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge, Gallatin, and Targhee National Forests.
