Snowshoeing
West Yellowstone is coated in pure white as winter takes a complete hold. It is the perfect place for snowshoeing and many skiers like to indulge themselves in a little more than homemade snowshoe trips. In fact, there are tours available for all age groups and abilities, taking in not only the thrill of the sport, but the many features and destinations within the area.
Snowshoeing trips are great for all ages and especially for a cheap and fun day out with the family. West Yellowstone offers snowshoe tours for those who wish to combine skiing with tourist adventures. Amongst the deep snows and steamy geysers, a world of adventure is just around the corner.
By the middle of December, Yellowstone opens the winter season, inviting everyone, far and wide to share the magical environment and atmosphere of the park and area. Though the area is open to a rush of winter visitors, many roads are closes from November to March, to prevent car accidents. However, with special transport provided, the park is a great place to snowshoe.
Tours can be taken with varied focuses in mind. Some people want to see the wintery wildlife and others want to get up close for warmth with the varied thermal features throughout the area. Even Old Faithful never ceases to be visited during the snowy months. Some tours even provide packed lunches, hot drinks or even a full meal at the nearby lodges. Most tours also include equipment and a friendly and intelligent guide for the best information and activities imaginable.
