Overview: Rugged mountain scenery, wildlife and blooming wildflowers are just part of the fun of taking part in the challenging Annual Mountain Bike Biathlon in West Yellowstone. The camaraderie is wonderful, too, as you meet up with other like-minded biathletes.
When: The Annual Mountain Bike Biathlon is held July 8th, 2017.
Where: The Biathlon is held at Rendezvous Ski Trails on the Biathlon Range. For parking you go .3 miles south of Iris Street on South Plateau Road.
Fee: There is a registration fee.
Details : You don’t have to be an experienced biathlon racer to take part in the West Yellowstone Mountain Bike Biathlon. But of course, you’ll need a mountain bike! Bring your own on rent one here. Helmets are required. There will be 7.5 k of mountain bike riding and two shooting bouts, both prone and standing.
There will be two divisions, Match Class and Sport Class. The Match Class will be biathletes who have their own rifles and experience. The Sport Class is for the novices. Prizes are awarded by age groups in the divisions.
Clinics are also offered for running and shooting, including race strategy and preparation. Those who participate in the clinics must bring their own rifle.
