Ashton, Idaho
Ashton, Idaho is a picturesque town nestled in peaceful rolling hills only an hour away from West Yellowstone. Here you’ll find year round activities and a small community with a real down-home atmosphere.
Big Sky, Montana
The surrounding unspoiled wilderness areas around Big Sky bring you premiere outdoor recreation along with awesome views. This is a popular resort community that is within easy reach of West Yellowstone. You can do some great hiking within Gallatin National Forest as well as Lee-Metcalf Wilderness and the Porcupine Wildlife Refuge.
Ennis, Montana
Ennis has been called the “land of the shining mountains,” and you’ll see why when you visit. In the heart of the Madison River Valley, this town is surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and millions of acres of the Beaverhead National Forest. A little over an hour’s drive from West Yellowstone, you can discover the history of the Old West in the nearby gold rush towns of Virginia City and Nevada City.
Island Park, Idaho
Island Park was shaped by the same volcanic forces that created Yellowstone, and all this beauty and wild forestland attracts people from all over for wonderful outdoor adventures. You’ll find numerous nearby attractions, too, such as Island Park Reservoir, Mesa Falls and much more. Covered in a dense forest of pine and wildflowers, you’ll find hiking, biking and backpacking are particularly good in and around Island Park.
